George Sedbury
George is a charismatic storyteller on a mission to bring awareness and attention to Black American history and the Historically Black Colleges and Universities contributions to the World. His is a story of trial and tribulation through addiction and incarceration that brings about his redemption.
A former opiate addict, George was sentenced to 13 years in prison, and served 3 while being on parole for 10 years following. While in prison, he was introduced to a cruel and hellish world most will never experience or see, and that planted a seed that would become his purpose in life.
George honed his storytelling skills in prison, sharing stories with inmates who couldn’t read as a way to help educate others and to fill their imagination. As a voracious reader in prison, he took a deep dive into Black American history as a way to relate to the men around him and to better understand a culture he was rarely exposed to.
George is now walking 3,000 miles Across America to create conversation and awareness about HBCU’s and to research and share amazing stories and people he meets along his journey. He has spoken onstage at the world famous Apollo theateelr, as well as different events around the country.
